Texas Baseball Hires Jim Schlossnagle from Texas A&M
Two-Time National Coach of the Year to Lead Longhorns
The University of Texas has announced the hiring of Jim Schlossnagle as its new baseball coach. Schlossnagle, who has spent the past two seasons at Texas A&M, brings a wealth of experience and success to the Longhorn program.
A Proven Winner
Schlossnagle is a two-time National Coach of the Year, having won the award in 2015 and 2017. He has also led his teams to four College World Series appearances, including a championship series appearance in 2022.
A History of Success
Before joining Texas A&M, Schlossnagle spent nearly two decades as the head coach at TCU. During his tenure, he led the Horned Frogs to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including six Super Regionals.
An In-State Move
Schlossnagle's jump from Texas A&M to Texas is not his first in-state coaching move. Prior to TCU, he spent time as an assistant coach at both Texas and Louisiana State University.
Replacing David Pierce
Schlossnagle takes over for David Pierce, who was fired after six seasons at Texas. Pierce led the Longhorns to two NCAA Tournament appearances, but the team failed to advance past the regionals in either year.
A New Era for Texas Baseball
Schlossnagle's hiring marks a new era for Texas baseball. With his proven track record of success, he is expected to bring the Longhorns back to national prominence.
